Medicinal Chemistry

Science to the service of human health

Medicinal chemistry is a chemistry based science that deals with, but is not limited to:

(i) innovation; discovering and development of new chemical entities;
(ii) synthesis or molecular modification;
(iii) extraction, isolation, structural identification and elucidation of natural products;
(iv) description of molecules in their many different levels beginning with atomic constitution (going through structure property relationships - SPR) until the interaction to their therapeutical targets;
(v) comprehension to the molecular level of biochemical, toxicological and pharmacokinetic processes and creation of structure activity relationships (SAR);
(vi) comprehension of the cellular phenomena in vitro and in vivo.
